Interprofessional e-Learning

The Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC) and Canada Health Infoway have created a national, online, competency-based, educational resource called e-Learning for Healthcare Professional Students ( All 18 modules are free to access on AFPC’s Moodle learning management system. Students and faculty simply register with a username and password.

A new open-access interprofessional online course on Safe and Effective e-Prescribing is now available. Designed for use in pharmacy, medical, nurse practitioner, dental and pharmacy technician programs, this peer-reviewed module helps prepare students to use e prescribing systems safely and collaboratively. Another course on e-Medication Reconciliation is for nursing, pharmacy and medical students. The Informatics for Pharmacy Students e-Resource has an additional 16 chapters, many of which would also be relevant for other health professional students.

These e-learning courses are a component of Infoway’s Digital Health Faculty Associations Content & Training Solutions (FACTS) initiative. They are aimed at improving graduate’s preparedness for work in technology-enabled environments by integrating digital health into curricula on a pan-Canadian level. The FACTS Program was a recipient of the 2017 Ted Freedman Award for Innovation in Education.
