CPERC 2023 Call for Abstracts is Now Open

CALL FOR RESEARCH / EDUCATION ABSTRACTS – deadline January 15, 2023

The Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC) invites pharmacy educators, researchers and students to submit abstracts for the AFPC Annual Conference in Winnipeg, June 13-16, 2023. The submission deadline is January 15, 2023. Authors will be informed of acceptance no later than April 15, 2023.

Abstracts can be submitted for oral presentations (during concurrent mini-sessions or Special Interest Group [SIG] education sessions) or poster presentations, under four categories: 1) pharmacy education initiative, 2) teaching and learning research / scholarship, 3) pharmaceutical science and 4) pharmacy practice research. Check out the CPJ Supplement for the 103 abstracts that were presented at CPERC 2022.

For CPERC 2023 AFPC is again using the MyAbstract online system to submit, peer review and manage abstracts: https://events.decorporate.ca/AFPC2023/abstract/login.php. If you already set up an account for your submission for CPERC 2020 or 2022, login using your email and password. If this is your first time using MyAbstract, begin by selecting "Don't Have An Account?", then use your email address and a password to create an account. The deadline for online submission of abstracts to AFPC is January 15, 2023. You will receive a confirmation email once your abstract is submitted. You can edit your online abstract until this deadline. Only abstracts that conform to the prescribed format will be considered.

Please note the following information:

  • Peer Review: abstracts will be peer-reviewed for both oral and poster presentations, and may be accepted, conditionally accepted (according to reviewers' comments) or rejected.
  • Authors will be informed of acceptance no later than April 15.
  • CPERC conference registration is mandatory for all students, researchers and educators whose abstracts are accepted for presentation. Oral and poster presenters must register for the conference no later than May 15.
  • Presentations for oral and poster sessions will occur on June 14 and 15. The specific date and time is dependent upon the number of abstracts accepted. Presenters will be advised of their scheduled presentation times.
  • Concurrent Mini-Sessions will be 20 minutes in duration (15-minute presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A). Topics applicable to contemporary pharmacy education initiatives, teaching and learning research / scholarship, and pharmacy practice research are of interest. These include curricular development; innovations in teaching; impact of the COVID-19 pandemic; learning and assessment; educational scholarship; experiential education; admissions; scholarly inquiries; faculty-led pharmacy practice innovations; and findings from educational and pharmacy practice research.

  • Abstract Publication in CPJ: Following CPERC, AFPC intends to publish the accepted oral and poster abstracts in the Canadian Pharmacists Association’s Canadian Pharmacists Journal as an online supplement. This publication will help promote and disseminate pharmacy education initiatives, educational scholarship, pharmaceutical science and pharmacy practice research. Please indicate your permission to publish your CPERC 2022 abstract, if accepted, in CPJ. You can indicate Yes, No or Unsure. As an example, see the CPJ supplement of the CPERC 2022 abstracts.
  • Poster boards will be available. For oral presentations, standard audiovisual equipment (LCD projector, laptop, screen and podium with microphone) will be provided. Presenters will be required to post a PDF of their poster and slides for oral presentation on the speaker portal.
