CPERC 2022 Call for Abstracts is Now Closed

The Call for Abstracts for oral and poster presentations CLOSED on January 31, with 105 abstracts submitted. The abstracts were peer-reviewed and authors have been notified.  



The Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC) invites pharmacy educators, researchers and students to submit abstracts for the AFPC Annual Conference in St. John’s, NL, June 14-17, 2022. The submission deadline is January 31, 2022. Authors will be informed of acceptance no later than April 15, 2022.

Abstracts can be submitted for oral presentations (during concurrent mini-sessions or Special Interest Group [SIG] education sessions) or poster presentations, under three categories: Pharmaceutical Science, Pharmacy Education and Pharmacy Practice Research. Check out AFPC's website to view the 85 abstracts presented at CPERC 2019: sessions information and posters.

For CPERC 2022 AFPC is using an online system to submit and manage abstracts: MyAbstract https://events.decorporate.ca/AFPC2022/abstract/login.php

If you already set up an account for your submission for CPERC 2020, login using your email and password. If this is your first time using MyAbstract, begin by selecting "Don't Have An Account?", then use your email address and a password to create an account. The deadline for online submission of abstracts to AFPC is January 31, 2022You will receive a confirmation email once your abstract is submitted. You can edit your online abstract until this deadline.

Only abstracts that conform to the prescribed format will be considered. Review the INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS FOR SUBMITTING ABSTRACTS FOR CPERC 2022.

Please note the following information:

  • CPERC conference registration is mandatory for all students, researchers and educators whose abstracts are accepted for presentation.
  • Peer Review: abstracts will be peer-reviewed for both oral and poster presentations, and may be accepted, conditionally accepted (according to reviewers' comments) or rejected. 
  • Authors will be informed of acceptance no later than April 15, 2022. 
  • Oral and poster presenters must register for the conference no later than May 15, 2022.
  • Presentations for oral and poster sessions will occur on June 15 and 16. The specific date and time is dependent upon the number of abstracts accepted. Presenters will be advised of their scheduled presentation times.
  • Concurrent Mini-Sessions will be 20 minutes in duration (15 minute presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A). Topics applicable to contemporary pharmacy education, pharmacy practice and research are of interest. These include curricular development; innovations in teaching; impact of the COVID-19 pandemic; learning and assessment; educational scholarship; experiential education; admissions; scholarly inquiries; faculty-led pharmacy practice innovations; and findings from educational and pharmacy practice research.
  • Concurrent AFPC Special Interest Group (SIG) Education Sessions will be 20 minutes in duration (15 minute presentation and 5 minutes for Q&A) and will be presented under the following eight AFPC SIGs: 
  1.      Educational Assessment
  2.      Program Evaluation
  3.      Experiential Education (PEP-C)
  4.      Medicinal Chemistry
  5.      Skills Lab
  6.      Informatics
  7.      Truth & Reconciliation
  8.      Self-Care Therapeutics & Minor Ailments
  • AFPC Educational Scholarship Poster Award (ESPA): this new faculty award for 2022 will recognize the best innovative and effective educational scholarship poster presented at the AFPC annual conference. See award details here. To be eligible, authors must indicate that their poster is to be considered for the ESPA when submitting the abstract (oral abstracts will also be considered, if the author wishes to also present a poster).
  • Abstract Publication in CPJ: Following CPERC, AFPC intends to publish the accepted oral and poster abstracts in the Canadian Pharmacists Association’s Canadian Pharmacists Journal as an online supplement. This publication will help promote and disseminate pharmacy education initiatives, educational scholarship, pharmaceutical science and pharmacy practice research. Please indicate your permission to publish your CPERC 2022 abstract, if accepted, in CPJ. You can indicate Yes, No or Unsure. As an example, see the CPJ supplement of the CPERC 2020 abstracts.
  • AFPC does not assume responsibility for any conference attendance or registration costs for oral or poster presenters.
  • Poster boards will be available. For oral presentations, standard audiovisual equipment (LCD projector, laptop, screen and podium with microphone) will be provided. Presenters will be required to have their presentation on a memory stick.

NOTE: CPERC 2020 was scheduled for May 21-24 in Montreal, Quebec. Regrettably, it was cancelled on March 12, 2020 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. To share some of the pharmacy education initiatives and research that would have been presented, the peer-reviewed abstracts accepted for presentation at CPERC 2020 were published in a special supplement of the Canadian Pharmacists Journal (CPJ/RPC November / December 2020, Vol 153, No 6). The 95 abstracts are grouped by oral or poster sessions, under the categories of pharmacy education, pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical science.
