Association of Deans of Pharmacy of Canada (ADPC)
The ADPC is a national organization representing academic pharmacy education and research in Canada.
The mission of the organization is to represent and provide advocacy for all elements of the academic community within the profession of Pharmacy. ADPC will provide vision and assume a national leadership role to:
- Enhance the education of future practitioners
- Innovate knowledge creation in the pharmaceutical and health sciences
- Influence the way pharmacists practice in the future.
The pharmacy academic community is comprised of ten (10) Faculties and Schools (see below for details). Degree offerings consist of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Master and Ph.D. degrees in Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree.
The Association is structured as a democratic organization with decision making based on the consensus of the ten Deans and Directors. Officers of the organization consist of the President, Treasurer, Past President, and Executive Director. Other members serve as delegates to The Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC) and the Canadian Council for the Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP).
The annual meeting of the Deans Association is held in October with interim meetings frequently occurring in February and June. The annual meeting consists of a symposium at which the latest initiatives in Pharmacy education and administration are elaborated. Annual and interim meetings of ADPC provide an opportunity for ADPC to connect with key pharmacy stakeholders, government departments, and research funding agencies. The business section of the annual meeting is reserved for benchmarking activities and the presentation of annual reports.
